Kyl Institute for National Security SkillBridge Gateway Program
What Is the Gateway Program?
Program Goal
Our goal is to expand the Kyl Institute for National Security’s influence in projects and programs across the University of Arizona through the engagement of mission driven individuals. Participants will work with their mentors to develop a schedule for their time with Kyl Institute for National Security. This schedule will include a program alignment based on the aspirations of the participant to one of our three Gateway tracks.
Core Audience
Kyl Institute for National Security’s SkillBridge program is designed to provide a Gateway for transitioning veterans in which they will gain experience in career fields of their choosing while simultaneously pursuing continued education in the form of professional certificates and higher education. Kyl Institute for National Security interns will be provided mentorship by one of the four Kyl Institute for National Security Vice Presidents, who will act as their mentor, coach, and coordinator throughout the different phases of the Internship.
Output
During the internship, participants can expect opportunities to shadow individuals in their field of interest. These opportunities will often take place outside of Kyl Institute for National Security’s footprint and will allow interns to network with professionals inside and outside of the University of Arizona.
Three Gateway Tracks
Kyl Institute for National Security’s SkillBridge program has three distinct Gateways for participants to pursue. Each program can be tailored to the needs of the participant in terms of length and goals. The common goal for each of the Gateways is for participants to walk away with new knowledge in their field of interest, a diverse and robust network of professionals in that field, and some form of continued education accomplished or in progress.
